OURED, Emmeria (ANN) - In a room packed with delegates from both Aquitayne and Emmeria, the atmosphere was more joyous than one would think for an arms deal of such proportions since the end of the Great War, and the Fukakku Shingeng Conflict. At $12.8 billion (yes, that's a 'b') Aeros, this procurement of Arms from the United Republic of Emmeria (U.R.E) stands as the largest purchase in recent memory.
The arms deal was signed into action at 3:23 (U.R.E.V-time) on April 30th, 2013. The room applauded afterwards, with each President respectfully handing each other their counterparts pen in a traditional ceremony. This arms deal stands to become one of the most beneficial for the Aquitaynian military, so the question arises: what in the world could we have purchased for almost 13 billion Aeros?
A lot of things, actually. The arms deal called for the domestic production rights of many different items of Emmerian military hardware that would vastly improve the protection of the every-day Aquitaynian front-line soldier. These procurements included:
1) Domestic production rights for restricted camouflage patterns
2) Domestic production rights for a new highly advanced ballistic helmet
3) Domestic production rights for new ballistic body armor and inserts
While these don't seem like much individually, the cost for the right to produce them domestically (due to their restricted access and high value) is what makes them so expensive, as well as the simple fact that they work. The current Commandante of the Marine Corps was quoted as stating, "this agreement will not only improve our ability to protect our soldiers, but enhance our fighting capabilities in areas we never looked".
Only time will tell if this large sum of cash does the trick.
